Zola House was built in the early 50's by Lloyd Ruocco, a famous local architect that also designed the San Diego Civic Theater and aspects of the world famous San Diego Zoo. He also contributed to the construction of Balboa Park where San Diego hosted the 1935 World's Fair. While you're in town, visit Ruocco Park, conveniently located just north of Seaport Village in Downtown San Diego.
In 2008, German film director Werner Herzog, known for films such as Grizzly Man and Rescue Dawn, brought cinema magic to Point Loma. For the film 'My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done', Zola House was painted and redecorated for a whirlwind 2 weeks that involved live flamingos, swat team personel, and murder!
According to Time Magazine, Point Loma is rated the 3rd 'coolest' neighborhood in America! With consistently perfect weather, incredible marine (and craft brew) life, and a beautiful skyline overlooking the San Diego bay, who could ask for a better place to celebrate your next big event?
